The Abe Bailey Travel Bursary is a prestigious leadership award granted to a select group of students across South Africa, recognising academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement. I’ve been selected to represent the University of the Western Cape on this international program and will be travelling to the United Kingdom as part of a delegation of student leaders in December 2025.
Attended the Quantify Your Future (QYF) Career Innovation Showcase, a premier networking event held in partnership with leading South African banks including Absa, FNB, Standard Bank, RMB, FirstRand, and Nedbank.The event offered insights into industry trends, graduate program structures, and career development. Actively engaged with recruiters and company representatives to ask questions, explore opportunities, and better understand the transition from university to the professional world. I attended a panel discussion featuring senior professionals from the participating firms, where they shared their career journeys, insights on the industry, and advice on how students can position themselves for success for the graduate program applications.
My group - Career Compass - developed a solution to address unemployment in South Africa by helping high school learners make informed career choices — using data to highlight oversaturated fields, so they can pursue degrees aligned with current market demand and future opportunities.
Received the Dean’s Merit Award for academic excellence in BSc Computer Science, 81.25% — graduating Magna Cum Laude. This award recognizes consistent high performance, dedication, and distinction in the 2024 academic year. Honored among the top students in the faculty at the annual Dean’s Merit Award Ceremony.
Conducted interactive tech outreach at schools, introducing students to computer science, AI, and cybersecurity through engaging presentations and hands-on activities. Led problem-solving workshops using educational games like Tanks by Tangabl, encouraging logical thinking and collaboration.
Volunteered at the SA Innovation Summit, connecting with tech leaders, startups, and investors. Gained insights into the African innovation landscape, explored pitch battles, and joined workshops on entrepreneurship and future technologies.

Officially appointed into key roles within the UWC IT Society, taking part in strategic planning, technical workshops, and community-building initiatives. Collaborated with peers to shape the society's goals for the year, promote student-led innovation, and organize upcoming tech events and mentorship programs.
Completed online courses through the AWS Skills Center, gaining foundational knowledge in cloud computing, security, and architecture. Later visited the AWS Skills Center in Cape Town
